Puerto Seguro is only 2 km away from the ancient part of Pizzo (VV), a lovely small town overlooking the sea, where ones can visit:

• The anjou-aragonese castle "Murat" (a national- monument, which recalls the execution of J. Murat, king of Naples and brother-in-law of Napoleon);
• The small Piedigrotta church built of sand rock on the beach, which is one of the highest expressions of the traditional art-craft of Calabria;
• The archaeological museum of the sea, where you can admire shells of all sizes and species, sponge-fish, shell-fish, fishing-tools of the ancient seamanship of Pizzo;
• Piazza della Repubblica, the real salon on the sea, where you can taste magnificent ice-cream from the local patisserie;

About 7 km from the structure you'll find the harbour of Vibo Marina, from where it's possible to take ferryboats to the Aeolian Islands. Other towns to visit are the city of Vibo Valentia (castle, museum, the baroque church of Vanvitelli), Tropea (ancient part of the town, beaches), Monterosso Calabro (museum of the culture and the tradition of the farmers), Serra S. Bruno and the great Certosa monastery of St. Bruno (magnificent monument of civilization and religious conviction).
